Prairie State Plumbing & Heating, Inc. The Athens-based company, with offices in Springfield and Quincy, offers plumbing, heating, cooling, electrical, mechanical, ventilation, and site work services to residential, commercial and industrial clients throughout Central Illinois. As a plumber and steamfitter for 45 years, Owner Jerry Judd started Prairie State Plumbing & Heating, Inc. in 2005. “It was just me starting off, but then I had to keep adding people as I got more business,” he said. Not long after, the opportunity arose to acquire Harney Electric, a reputable electrical contracting business. He led both businesses simultaneously and in 2013, Jerry decided to officially merge them into one company as a way to provide more comprehensive services to his commercial, industrial and residential clients. Since that time, Prairie State has experienced tremendous growth, which Jerry attributes to the company’s dedication to quality work, honesty and integrity.
